Smartair L1 escutcheon

This is the standard unit, suitable for use with a mortice nightlatch. The lock does not have any mechanical override facility.

The external lever free flows and when a valid card is presented the clutch engages to allow the lever to operate the lock.

The unit is available as an internal or external escutcheon and in a variety of finishes.

Smartair L2 escutcheon

This lock is exactly the same as the L1 with the exception that it offers a mechanical key override function on the external side of the door from the key cylinder located below the lever handle.

This is an extra failsafe for users who may be concerned about the battery life of a unit or worried about electronic failure of the lock. In the unlikely event of these occurring then there is a fall back to get through the door.

Even though the whole premise of Smartair is to use cards instead of keys, Smartair locks are still installed onto doors where existing master key suites are in situ. These locks allow the use of a key on these doors.

When ordering, the distance between the centre of the lever handle and the centre of the keyhole are important. Lock-tec usually use the lock with a 72mm DIN standard lock case but other sizes are available.

Smartair L3 escutcheon

This lock offers exactly the same function as the L2 lock with the exception that the L3 offers a key override cylinder function on the internal and external side.

This lock can be used with a variety of mortice lock cases and different styles of cylinder combination. For example, you may use the lock with a sashlock case that will enable card access during working hours but you have the ability to mechanically deadlock the door and effectively block off the lock. This gives both security and convenience.

The internal plate could have a key cylinder for locking from within or a thumbturn for manual unlocking of a deadbolt.

A useful variation of this lock is the "deadbolt projection" model where the external lever can be lifted up or pushed down on activation. This enables the lock to be used in some multi point lock applications on PVC or wooden doors.
